Video #1 The Fundraising Goals:
Prezy Video #2 - Where to buy a Golden Heart Hand Statue
Hello, Class of ’74!
We are sharing updates for the Class of 1974 Deaf Leadership Fund campaign.
New Deadline: The deadline to make donations or pledges is December 31, 2024.
Fundraising Goals:
- Achieve a 100% participation rate among the 90 members of the Class of 1974 who attended the 50th class reunion. As of November 1, participation is at 33%.
- Raise a total of $74,000 for the fund by December 31, 2024. As of November 1, the fund balance is $60,912.68.
You have several options for contributing to the fund: make a one-time gift, set up recurring payments, and/or make a pledge.
How to Make a Pledge:
You can pledge any amount, and your pledge will count toward the total campaign goal. For example, if you pledge $1,000, this amount will contribute to the fund’s total by December 31, 2024. You then have until December 31, 2025, to complete the full payment of your pledge.
If you would like to make a pledge, please contact Rebecca Rydstrom at rebecca.rydstrom@gallaudet.edu to receive a pledge form.
Thank you for supporting the Class of 1974 Deaf Leadership Fund!
Hello! Many of you have inquired about the Golden Heart Hand Statue, which served as a stunning centerpiece on each table at the banquet. I purchased it online for $25.99 plus tax, and it comes with free shipping! My wife, Meg, and I absolutely love it!

Our goal is to achieve 100% participation from members of our class of 1974 by personally giving gifts.
To reach this goal, we kindly ask that you confirm your participation by November 3, 2024, by midnight. Your involvement means a lot to us!
URGENT!
Good day! We had a fantastic time at last week's Golden Anniversary Class reunion. A big thank you to Melinda, Scott, and their team for their hard work. Kudos to Linda and June for their exceptional fundraising efforts for the Class of '74 Endowment Fund.
We proudly awarded our first-ever scholarship to Amanda Hardin during the GUAA brunch. It was a memorable moment.
We aim to boost donor participation in the Class of '74 Fund to nearly 100% participation by midnight Sunday, November 3rd. Several fund matchers are challenging each of us to contribute any amount, offering to match our donations with their individual maximums—some as high as $500, $1,000, $2,000, and even one up to $20,000! So, our top goals are:
- Goal number 1: To ensure a high level of participation from classmates, we are implementing an online donation. The dedicated link will lead you directly to the Class of 1974 Deaf Leadership Endowment at the gu.live/Classof1974
- Goal number 2: To achieve an endowment fund of over $74,000.
- Goal number 3: Pam Holmes and her team will match the total donation amount.
This approach will maintain confidentiality, allowing us to keep donors' identities private. The Office of Institutional Advancement will not show individual names but will provide us with the total fund amount and participation percentage.
It's not too late to encourage others to join our efforts. Please act now!
Thank you! In solidarity with Golden Hearts,
Jim Bishop, Class of 1974 President
